10-Piece Frankart/Art Deco Collection Tops $14K

Perhaps nothing better epitomizes the Art Deco movement than Frankart: lamps, figurines, and other decorative items fashioned after the form of an elegant female nude and accessorized with equally beautiful glass shades and vases. Frankart was mass produced in the 1920s and 1930s out of white lead composition and spray painted a variety of colors. Though such a method of production sounds inauspicious, Frankart remains one of the most sought after artifacts of the Art Deco era, and its collectors are passionate and well informed.

Auction Themed Movies

Oddly enough, there seems to be a lack of auction themed motion pictures in the vast library of cinema. Sure, there are plenty of movies in which auctions occur, but there doesn’t seem to be any feature films that concentrate on auctions and/or auctioneers. Perhaps Hollywood producers don’t think that the auction world is intriguing or sexy enough to fictionalize it for the silver screen, or maybe no one has emerged with an idea worthy of being produced. Assuming that the latter is true (because–come on–the auction world is definitely intriguing and sexy) I have compiled a few of my own ideas for auction themed movies.

Those who have little or no experience in the auction world are usually unaware of the strange and absurd items–some of which look like garbage–that can bring high prices on the block. So our mantra is “don’t throw anything away before we come and look.” That is our golden rule, one we ask all who call us about liquidating an estate to follow, lest they make a tragic mistake and send marketable items to the landfill. Silly Bidding Techniques

So, I’ve already discussed stealthy bidding techniques and overt ones. Then my imagination took a stroll through that cerebral zoo of mine where I keep all my insanity caged up. There I found silly bidding techniques, ones that I’ve never actually seen used, but would be hilarious should they ever be employed by auction goers. Please note that I don’t actually recommend using any of the following methods. (Especially at my auction!) By writing this post, I am simply indulging my twisted sense of humor.
